The need for regular physical activity has never been higher than it is now. The alarming rates of heart disease and obesity are increasing, and much of this is due to the fact that physical activity is at a low point for humans today. We simply do not need to stand up and move around as much as we used to. The technology has stepped in and relieved us of the need to constantly do ourselves, and the need to actively seek business was born. Unfortunately, most people do ask activity in the form of hard physical exercise underway at a gym, jogging, or other similar things. These are all wonderful for the body, but they require a lot of dedication, effort and discipline and, hence, they can be difficult to keep. What we need are forms of exercise that are fun and a little less difficult for us to actively assist and losing these books. Here are four great ideas.

Ping-pong or table tennis as it is officially known is a great sport to become active. As a reduction of the version of tennis, ping-pong is a fun sport with a rapid pace, but is not so physically demanding that his counterpart greater. It can be picked up by anyone, and your body movement, build your reflexes and your heart pumping. Its a great source of exercise that you can burn many calories without leave you winded and emptied of its energy. The rules are very simple and can be learned in minutes and as long as you have a table it can at any time played. It is also a sport very pleasant, and when you play with a friend You’ll find you stay with him for much longer than you had originally planned.

Badminton is a great sport for the year. Although slightly more demanding physically and table tennis, badminton can really be played at any pace. The specially designed birdie lofts in the air much slower than a tennis ball, so you can enjoy this sport to a pleasant level, or further and play harder and really your body of work. Anyway You’ll be burning calories and do the exercise you need, but You’ll have great pleasure to do so. While badminton is normally played on a big court, you can play in your own garden with just one birdie and two rackets. Because of its different levels of physical effort and the ability to play anywhere badminton is a sport very versatile.

No exercise is also beneficial for your cardiovascular system as swimming. Your heart has to work hard to move your bodys weight in water, and having to hold your breath and control it exercises your lungs and make them more capable of supplying oxygen to your blood. Swimming is also one of the highest assessment forms of exercise to burn calories in a relatively short period of time. The biggest advantage to swimming is that most people like to do so. You do not have to make towers and swimming as an athlete to get the benefits of swimming. Leisure swimming, diving and treading water are all thats needed. It is easy to do for long periods of time, help your body to burn unwanted fat. Better still, when you’re ready to call it quits, all you have to do is pull on a float, kick back and enjoy some rays.

Finally, we have a form of exercise that is truly unique video game console on the Nintendo Wii. The Wii is placed on the market as the first video game system that promotes physical activity, and Nintendo has actually developed several games that focus on movement and exercise. Never before a person has been able to burn calories because they play a video game, but now you can easily do it from your own home. Besides the lifting of games, there are also several sports games that you travel and competition. The beauty is that none of these games that are physically demanding that sports they represent, but you moving and burning energy and exert oneself. You can also get easily taken in competition with your friends, play for hours that you burn calories and to establish the strength of your heart.

While it is true that Americans are less exercise than ever before, a new trend of practice, the exercise occasionally May methods very well change that. You do not need expensive gyms or intense exercise routines that are difficult to stick to lose weight or get in better shape, just find something you like you do on your feet. If you like, do you feel that you have to commit to anything, and You’ll spend much more time on it. There are many ways to burn calories and tone your body, then do what suits you best!

The grip is an all-important fundamental in every racket game. In table tennis it has provoked much controversy, and many grips have been advocated in the past: the “shovel” grip, the “penholder” grip, the “palm” grip. We recommend the tennis grip because that is the one used by all ranking table-tennis players.
THE TENNIS GRIP
To form the tennis grip, take up your racket and grasp it as though you were shaking hands with a friend. Now slip your hand up the handle until it fits snugly, and place your index finger on the rubber surface of one side and your thumb on the other. Curl your remaining fingers around the handle of the racket.
The side of the racket where your thumb rests is the forehand side; and the other side, where your index finger rests, is the backhand side. This is the only orthodox grip. However, forefinger and thumb may be shifted slightly to the position which feels most comfortable to you.
In lawn tennis, particularly among women players, it is often advantageous to shift the thumb up the handle of the racket for support. In table tennis too, you may find it desirable to place your thumb farther behind the racket to provide more force for your shots. We do not recommend excessive shifting of grip from forehand to backhand because the player may lose control of his racket during a fast point.
The fact that thumb and forefinger are actually on the playing surface of the racket enables you, with practice, to feel the speed of the shot – both the one you are receiving and the counter shot you are returning. If you hold the racket firmly, but not tightly, the impact of a hard shot will register through your fingers and will thus permit control and precision in your return. Do not grip the racket too tightly, as this may cause numbness which will hamper your shot perception and touch.
Check the position of your wrist frequently to make sure you retain a natural, strong position, and avoid cramped, awkward shots. By a “natural” position is meant a position of the wrist which naturally arises when you shake hands with the racket, a position in which the wrist is not bent or cramped in any way. Do not extend your thumb too far in back of the racket, thus forcing the face to be turned too far forward or back. This grip variation might help your block game, but it will hamper free stroke-production when you begin driving and chopping.
THE PENHOLDER GRIP
The so-called “penholder” grip, in which the racket is held as if it were a pen, is the most popular of the “non-orthodox” grips. Although it is widely used, it has many disadvantages. The user is required to hit both backhand and forehand shots with the same side of the racket, and can develop at best only an awkward chop stroke. His reach is shortened by three or four inches due to this grip, and he cannot smash a high-bouncing shot well because he cannot get over the top of the ball properly.
A thorough knowledge of the correct grip for table tennis will no doubt enhance your game of table tennis. Enjoy this wonderful game!

In table tennis too, May you find it desirable to place your thumb farther behind the racket to provide more power for your photos. We recommend that you do not spend too much taking forehand to backhand, because the player May lose control of his racket during a fast.

If you hold the racket firmly but not tightly, the impact of a blow will record your fingers and allow the control and accuracy in your statement. Do not take the racket too tight, as this May cause numbness that hamper your image and perception of touch.

Check the position of your wrist regularly to ensure that you retain a natural position of strength, and avoid cramped, awkward shots. By a “natural” means position is a position of the wrist that arises naturally when you shake hands with the racket, a position in which the wrist is not bent or cramped in any way whatsoever. Do not extend your thumb too far behind the racket, which requires the face to be too far forward or backward. This variation could help block your game, but the free-production time when you start driving and chopping.

The GRIP Penholder

The so-called “Penholder” to join in the racket which stands as if it were a pen, is the most popular “non-orthodox” handles. Although it is widely used, it has many drawbacks. The user is required to hit two backhand and forehand shots with the same side of the racket, and can develop at best, only a chop clumsy coup.
Table Tennis, also known as “Ping Pong”, is believed to have begun life in Victorian Britain where it became the game of fun for the Upper Classes. 1901 saw a breakthrough in the game when a link was made to celluloid balls and table tennis. The modern table tennis racket was also invented in 1901 and it was these advances in the game that kept it in the public eye and boosted its popularity in general. 1926 saw the foundation of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and 1988 saw the games entry into the Olympics at Seoul in South Korea.

The official dimensions of a full size table tennis table are 9 foot long by 5 foot wide but smaller versions are available for the home market and leisure industry. As with most sports, there are international rules governing the size of the balls to be used in tournaments. The ITTF state that the balls must be 40 mm in diameter and just 2.7 grams in weight. The table tennis racket (also known as a bat or paddle amongst others), is a wooden, lollipop shaped bat that will be covered in textured rubber on one or both sides. The ITTF regulations do permit different surfaces to be present on each side of the racket and this allows players to utilise different levels of spin or speed. Competitive table tennis is currently popular throughout Europe and Asia and is becoming more so in America. China has dominated the sport over the last half century although as its popularity spreads, so do the skills of European players.

Having speed, spin, accuracy and control is what one needs to enjoy a game of ping pong on a Stiga table tennis table . And for that one needs to have good quality ping pong paddles which are also known as handles or rackets. Usually ping pong paddles are designed with wooden handles finished with sponge to make it comfortable for the players to hold and grip the handle easily and enjoy unlimited wrist movements to swing the paddle at any time.

It is the quality of ping pong paddles which helps in producing incredible flow of speed and accuracy when one hits the ball on a Stiga table tennis table. There are numerous ping pong paddles, but not all of them are perfect for everyone. For instance, a ping pong paddle that suits you might be a disaster for someone else. If one enjoys a tight swing, a smaller paddle is a better option, but for free flowing swing at wide angles one must go for a slightly bigger one.

In the market one can find different types of paddles just like ping pong tables. As far as handle style is concerned one can go for personal preference, but one needs to seriously think about the material composition as one’s performance hugely depends on it. Plus, buying the right ping pong blades also depends hugely on playing style and level. Thus it is essential to decide the style of the game first before purchasing a table tennis blade that matches your game.

Here are some tips to help you choose the right table tennis paddles:

Handle Type

Mostly players go for the handle of their preference, although there are a few rules of thumb that can help you in choosing one. Straight ping pong paddles give the best flexibility and are the easiest to flip while hitting the ball on a ping pong table. Hence, these are popular amongst players who like to flip the ping pong blade. On the other hand flared ping pong paddles are for players who prefer to maintain a loose grip. Another most popular handle style is the anatomical ping pong paddles also known as double flared handles. These paddles come with a flared handle with a second wide part in the middle.

Penhold Table Tennis Racket

Penhold table tennis blades are usually for the Asian style of table tennis game. These paddles hugely differ in the grip and the blade itself. The Japanese table tennis blades come with a longer and narrower head and thicker handles. Whereas the Chinese one are designed with rounder thinner blades with rounded handle.

Table Tennis Blade Composition

Thin slices of wood veneers are put together to make the table tennis blade. Some of these blades come with an outer laminate coating of carbon fiber. Apart from this, there are composite blades too that come with one or more carbon fiber, graphite, or other synthetic material layers. These composite blades are lighter, faster, and stronger as compared to the blades made of wood and are better for hitting the ball on a ping pong table. However make sure to find a blade made of 85 percent wood.

Just remember the above mentioned points while buying ping pong paddles and you can enjoy table tennis on your ping pong table for years.

Table tennis or ping pong as its popularly known has grown into a very engaging and addictive sport over the years. It is a good recreation and leisure time activity in families. After a while of playing table tennis or just when you are getting interested in the game, you might decide to buy a ping pong table. There are a lot of things you should keep in mind while buying a table for your home.

Initially, if you are just learning the game or your kids are, you might not want to go for such an expensive table. You and your kids can make use of a lower end table tennis table and beat the hell out of it while learning the tricks of the game. During the aggressive playing days, a table can take quite a beating and make sure u don’t waste a lot of money buying a higher end ping pong table. After your kids have matured into serious players, you can think of getting them a good Stiga ping pong table which is a good table for playing at home.

The next thing you have to consider is whether you will leave your table tennis table in a permanent place or keep packing and unpacking it . Most people go for a folding table, due to space constraints, which can be folded and packed away in a corner when you are not playing.

Make sure that the roller wheels are good quality flexible wheels so that they can be moved easily. The braking mechanism on these wheels is very good on a Stiga ping pong table.

Many people are very comfortable playing on a one inch thick table because the bounce is very even. People believe that the thicker a table is, the better the bounce. Very true. But a 0.75 inch table is not bad and will give you a reasonable bounce. A one inch table is preferred because that is the table people grow up playing, especially at the community center or at tournament level. I have a one inch Stiga ping pong table at home because I grew up playing with them at school tournaments.

Another thing you have to keep in mind is that your table tennis table should have strong legs and supports to withstand the test of time. Some tables come with an additional leveler which is ideal for surfaces where the floor is not level. These levelers will help in keeping your table straight and level. Other things you will need to check is whether the playing surface of the table is even. Run your eye at the playing surface of the table and check that there is no warping or folds on any parts of the table.

Make sure the net clamps of the table have a soft padding under them so that they do not cause any scratch marks on the table. The clamps should also not dig into the underside of the table. Finally, check out the 30-23 rule on your Stiga ping pong table. Drop a ping pong ball from a height of 30 cm anywhere on the table and it should bounce back to about 23 cm. This 23 cm bounce should be even on parts of the table and you can be pretty sure you have one of the best quality tables.

Table tennis is a really fun sport and most people love to enjoy this sport on the patio on a beautiful warm summer afternoon or in the basement for some friendly competition. If you are a die hard fan of table tennis you must have your own table tennis or ping pong table to enjoy your favorite sport anytime. But before planning to purchase one for yourself you need to be sure of what you want to get the best bargain. There are several table tennis equipments that you need to consider. Table tennis equipments in general are not too many and one must not hesitate to purchase the best.

The Table

Generally the standard size of tennis table is 2.74 m long, 1.525 m wide, and 76 cm high made with a hardboard layered with a smooth, low-friction coating. The table top is supported by eight legs. Always remember that the playing surface must be thirty inches from the floor. To divide the table into two parts a white line of around one-eighth to one-fourth of an inch is marked on the playing surface which generally comes in a dark green or some dull, non reflecting color. This line is must while playing doubles but it is not mandatory for singles. Depending upon your storing facility and open space you can consider a folding or stationary table tennis table. As far as quality is concerned, Stiga ping pong table tennis tables are the best in the market.

Racket

For playing table tennis the most important equipment is the racket. As far as the rules of table tennis are concerned one can use a racket of any size, shape, and material. But however for quick response it is better to invest on a good quality laminated wooden racket covered with pebbled rubber on one or two sides. The rubber helps in controlling the ball and spinning it the way the player wants. Go for a racket which has a better grip, feel and touch abilities.

The Ball

Extreme care should be taken while purchasing the ball for your Stiga table tennis table. The ball should be perfect round and should neither be too hard nor too soft. Buy a light 2.7 gram, 40 mm diameter ball and the ball must bounce up to 23 cm when dropped on the Stiga ping pong table from a height of 30 cm. To check the quality of the ball check the stars on the ball. A ball with 3 stars is of the highest quality, and is used in official competitions.

Lighting

As table tennis is an indoor game it is essential to have good lighting overhead. For adequate lighting use at least four 200-watt bulbs in a playing space of twenty-five feet by twelve. Plus there must be ample space between the floor and ceiling to allow the players enjoy strokes without hitting the ball on the ceiling.

Net and the Posts

Buy a net with a total length of six feet for your Stiga table tennis table. The net is fixed on the posts located on both sides of the table by using a cord. The posts must be six and three-quarter inches high. Always remember that the net must be exactly six inches from the table top.

Once the above equipments are purchased, you can enjoy playing table tennis on your Stiga ping pong table.

The sport of table tennis has been encouraging new players, creating Olympic champions, and inspiring crowds of eager spectators for many many years, though few know the true history of the how the sport began, developed, and became what it is today. Below, is a brief digestible history of the sport of table tennis, that will hopefully inspire a better appreciation for it.

Though there are many variations on the initial beginnings of table tennis or ping pong, most scholars and sources concur that table tennis began in England in the late 1800s as a fun after-dinner diversion. Some rumors say it was enacted on the dinner tables themselves, while others stick to the more popular assumption that it began as a lawn and garden game, closely tied to badminton. At this time, they didn’t yet have ping pong paddles, and so English socialites used vellum bats to play. In the 1890s, Parker Brothers began work on an indoor version of the popular lawn tennis, which included the net, paddles, and ball.

In the very beginnings-though table tennis was very very popular in England-it was still looked at as solely casual, certainly not as a sport. It was not until much later-approximately 1905-1910, when table tennis/ping pong started becoming popular in other countries, such as: Japan, China, and Korea. Meanwhile, England created the first official Table Tennis Association for the purpose of finally recognizing the pastime as a sport, but it was the Asian countries who had adopted table tennis to their own national hobbies, that made it the highly competitive and respected sport it now is. These countries took on the pastime as a full-fledged sport to be mastered, and is still a highly popular sport there. Today, millions of people in these countries play; and consider table tennis a highly competitive sport to be respected and perfected.

After a brief period, England took up the sport again in the 1920s as a popular diversion. This is truly when the standardization of the game, i.e. rules, organizations, and competitions were begun. Since then, table tennis has become a popular worldwide sport, and even an Olympic event; with competitive players outnumbering 30 million worldwide and millions non-competitive. It was during this time that table tennis-through a series of adjustments-truly transformed. In 1926, the International atble tennis Federation was formed. In 1935, the three major table tennis organizations: The American Ping Pong Association, The Amateur Table Tennis Association, and the National Table Tennis Association combined to form the U.S. Table Tennis Association. In 1957, with the overwhelming worldwide popularity the once annual worldwide table tennis championships, becomes biennial. Finally, in 1988, table tennis becomes an Olympic sport at that year’s Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.

Today, the game of competitive table tennis has been preserved to almost the same rules, measurements, etc that it began with; it’s most avid competitors and the International Table Tennis Federation ensuring that the human skill and capacity for the sport is not changed with the introduction of new technology.

Table tennis is an Olympic racket sport where two players or two teams of two players, press the table tennis ball back and forth, through the net on a table, with wooden pallets. The game mode is similar to tennis, hence the name.

The playing surface is a table, 30 inches above the ground which is about 9 feet long and five feet wide. A six-inch high net divides the table in two. The ball table tennis has a diameter of 40 mm, is made of celluloid, and is hollow. This article discuss some basic elements of table tennis, scoring, rules and basic strokes.

Table Tennis Official rules mandate table tennis matches constitute a best of five or the best series of seven games to 11 points. The first player to reach 11 points with a margin of two wins.

In a best-of-five match, the first player to win three sets wins the match. In a best-of-seven match, the first player to win four games wins the match. In the 11 points format game, players alternating serves every two points. If the game reaches a score of 10-10, players alternate serve all points until a player achieves a margin of two points.

Historically, a ‘game of table tennis was played to 21 points with the players used in rotation every five points. This method is the preferred method of recreation for players of table tennis.

To begin each point, the server throws the ball, a palm open, at least 6 inches in the air. The server hits the ball with the paddle so that the ball bounced on its side of the table before bouncing on his opponent. A table tennis player wins a point by hitting a shot which hit the table and is not returned by the opponent.

A table tennis player loses a point if it does not return his opponent’s shot, allowing the ball to bounce more than once on its side of the net, fails to hit the table with his shooting, hitting the ball twice, places his hand on the table, hitting the ball before it bounces on its side of the table, or fails to execute a ping-pong legal serve.

Table tennis players have many traits at their disposal. Table Tennis offensive moves include the speed by car, loop drive, and smash.

Speeding is a blow struck with a square face racket was parallel to the table of results in a flat disc shot.

A loop is a blow struck with a racket face has closed almost perpendicular to the table. The loop drive in table tennis is comparable to one in tennis groundstroke hit with a lot of topspin.

The smash is a coup very offensive which involves swinging the racket on a bouncing ball high to generate a lot of speed.

Table Tennis defence include beatings and chopping block.

The chopping table tennis is the version of the tranche. Table tennis players performing the chop by swinging the range from high to low with a racket face to impart backspin.

Finally, the block is just one used in the fight against attacking shots. To execute the block, players of table tennis just have to put the paddle behind the approaching ball and allow the ball hit the racket.

Players must strategically use a mix of offensive and defensive plans to win a game of table tennis.
